Kate Middleton Will Return to Public Life in The Coming Months
The Princess of Wales ‘may be keen to attend events as and when she feels able to’ as she continues her recovery from cancer, according to reports.
Royal author Robert Jobson told Hello! magazine, 'It’s been tough on both of them, not least as parents, as they try to reconcile their children's mental well-being with their seriousness of her diagnosis.' He went on to explain that the couple have grown ‘closer’, and calling their marriage ‘unshakeable’. The royal expert continued, ‘There is no question that William has been Catherine's rock. He is the constant in her life and she is at the heart of his.’
Kate Middleton revealed she was receiving treatment for the disease a month ago, asking the public for ‘some time, space and privacy’ while she completed the course of chemotherapy. While the form of cancer was not disclosed, the Princess offered the world a moving insight into her reaction to the diagnosis, and how she told her family of the news she was unwell.
Since then, Prince William has returned to public engagements, telling members of the public he would ‘look after’ the Princess during her recovery. Meanwhile Kate has been keeping up to date with her projects by working from home.
According to The Telegraph, Kate continued to work during the first few months of the year on her ambitious Early Years initiative. She also joined Prince William in releasing a public statement to send her thoughts and wishes to Australia earlier this month after the horrendous knife attack in Sydney.
Now, insiders have said the King’s decision to return to official duties will have eased the pressure from Kate, who, according to The Telegraph, may be keen to attend a number of events over the summer.
The Princess would normally appear at a number of events over the summer months, including Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and Trooping the Colour. Kensington Palace has said the royal will return to official duties when she is cleared by doctors, with a spokesperson saying she ‘may be keen to attend events as and when she feels able to’ but ‘any initial public events will not necessarily signal a return to a regular public schedule’. It perhaps means that, depending on the Princess' health and doctors advice, Kate could reappear in public occasionally at royal events.
However, it seems clear that any appearance should not be seen as a full ‘return’ to public life; instead, royal fans should have no expectation that the Princess will be back to her usual full working schedule until that is confirmed by the Palace
Last week, experts spoke of how challenging the balance of family life and royal duty has been for Kate Middleton and Prince William.
